In this lesson, students will work at different stations in 4 groups of 4-5. Each group has a leader who is charged with managing time and materials. The one hour lesson is divided into a 10-minute introduction and 12 minute rotations through the stations.
1. Voicethread: Read through VOICETHREAD INSTRUCTIONS and follow. You will have 12 minutes to listen to 3 questions and record your answers.
2. Character practice, Character of the Day (哥哥 gēge 姐姐 jiĕjie ) & Workbook. Group leaders will: · give their group 5 minutes to practice characters · then ask students to clear desks · hand out Character of the Day · collect Character of the Day sheets when complete. · Afterwards, students may continue completing character sheet or do L 17 Workbook (pp 65-68, 1-5, 7).
3. Oral practice – Take turns reading text p 91, doing exercises on pp 92-3 & WB (pp 65-68, 1-5, 7). Group leaders will: · Have students take turns being Jiaming and Dawei · Check that everyone understands the text · Check that everyone able to ask /answer How many people are in your family? Who are they? 你家有几口人?他们是谁? · Do exercises on pp 92-3. · Work on L 17 Workbook if there is extra time.
4. Written practice – Autobiography: · Answer questions about yourself on the first page. You may work with your group to make sure you understand the questions. · Work with a partner: record your partner’s answers to these questions on the back.
